to the anon who asked which were my favorites, for the 2022 aus, its really hard to pick, I absolutely adored writing my Twisted Fairytales Bridgerton au and one of these days a will totally write a full fic about it, but also the Star Wars au and the Mafia au were so much fun!! I loved writing those. The reincarnation verse was also so good, and arghh I should have expanded on the Criminal minds au.

Long Story short, it's really hard to pick which was my favorite au to write in 2022, but the ones I listed above always make me grin like a maniac, even when I'm busy and sleep deprived.

Mumbattan References

I expected no less from Spiderverse but the cultural references in the movie still made me immensely happy (I am by no means a the-buck-stops-with-me authority on my culture, nor is this a complete list, I’m just naming random things that I caught that made me happy to see)

  • The architecture, obviously
  • Miles crashing a wedding procession oh my god
  • When Pavitr yells at Miles for saying chai tea
  • Then tries to beat up Spot for saying naan bread
  • “Four people on a bike?! That seems a little unsafe.” 😂🤣 (wait till Spot sees the literal nine year olds driving scooters-)
  • This might sound weird, but authentically Indian music? Like, whenever India shows up in western media, there’s Bollywood music in the background, whether you’re in the north, south, east or west, and it annoys me that it feels like they think that’s the only music we have here, India has just as much variety as other countries do. I can’t explain what type of music showed up when Miles fell into Mumbattan (I have to listen to it again when more of the soundtrack comes out) but I can tell you it evoked a specific sense of longing and nostalgia in me that I can’t put into words
  • Pavitr’s school uniform my beloved
  • Pavitr saying bhaiya, even if it was just one time (Hindi for brother)
  • Shoutout to the blink-and-you-miss-it Zomato billboard my father caught but I didn’t
  • Feeding stray puppies!!
  • “And this is where the British stole all of our stuff.” Pavitr, sweetie, I love you
  • coconut oil and prayer
  • Mumbattan comic book effects being in Sanskrit (I think)

Once again, not claiming to be an all-knowing whiz or anything, just listing things I liked

We really, as a society, need to stop treating sex like a rite of passage. It hurts me so much to see people (especially high schoolers) embarrassed to say they haven't had sex.

For some people it may take time, for others that time never comes, or they simply aren't interested. Stop pushing your values or expectations on other people, especially those who are developing into adulthood. Stop shaming people over something that's not your business.
